Privacy Policy for TechTurnpike

Effective Date: June 1, 2025

At TechTurnpike, your privacy matters to us—almost as much as finding cool gadgets that make you say, “Wait, I need that.” This Privacy Policy explains what kind of information we collect, how we use it, and how we occasionally earn a little commission when you click on some links (without costing you anything extra). By using our site, you agree to the terms below.

What We Collect (Spoiler: Not That Much)

When you browse TechTurnpike, we may collect:

  • Non-personal information, like what browser you’re using, what pages you visit, and how long you hang out here. This helps us improve the site—not spy on your ramen habits.
  • Voluntarily submitted information, like your email if you subscribe to a newsletter or contact us directly. We’ll never sell your email, and we don’t have time to spam you. Promise.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies (The Digital Kind, Not the Tasty Ones)

We use cookies and similar tracking tools to:

  • See what pages people love (and which ones are just… meh)
  • Improve your browsing experience
  • Track affiliate links (more on that juicy detail below)

You can control cookie settings through your browser, and no, declining them won’t break the internet.

Affiliate Links Disclosure

Some of our content contains affiliate links, especially to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. That means if you click a link and buy something, we may receive a small commission—at no additional cost to you. Think of it as a high-five for helping you find cool stuff.

We only recommend products we genuinely like or think are ridiculously useful (or entertaining). We won’t sell our souls for a few bucks—unless it’s a robot vacuum that also makes pancakes.

For more info about our affiliate links, look here.

Embedded content from other websites

Suggested text: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who We Share Data With

No one. We don’t sell, rent, or trade your info. Period. We might use tools like Google Analytics or affiliate tracking services, but those are standard tools and only help us see anonymous trends—not your weekend shopping list.

Third-Party Links

We link to other sites (like Amazon or brand product pages). Once you leave TechTurnpike, their rules apply—not ours. Be sure to check their privacy policies if you’re concerned.

How long we retain your data

Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to your data (if we have any)
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Opt out of emails or tracking anytime

Just shoot us a message via the [Contact page] and we’ll sort it out.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service,

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If we do, we’ll post the new version right here with an updated date. It’s up to you to check back now and then—but we’ll try to keep things simple and transparent.
